LOS ANGELES, May 21, 2003 – It was the American Dream come true for Denise Travis, who, this morning, discovered her key opened the door a brand-new KB home on the “LIVE with Regis & Kelly” show. After being chosen from more than two million entries in the Regis & Kelly/KB Home Giveaway, Travis has won a brand-new KB home worth up to $250,000 in the KB Home community of her choice in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina or Texas. It was an exciting end to the biggest contest in the show’s history that included the construction of a 3,000-sq. ft. craftsman-style KB home on the ABC studio lot in midtown Manhattan. Along with Regis and Kelly, viewers have watched the progress of the home being expertly built and decorated over the past several weeks. Following today’s conclusion of the contest, the model home will be carefully disassembled, and all useful parts, appliances, furnishings and windows will be donated to the charitable organization Habitat for Humanity.
Last week, Travis, who lives in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, became one of five finalists from across the country who were selected at random and flown with a guest to New York City to appear on the show. Finalists who did not win the KB home did not leave empty handed: one went home with a $50,000 home furnishings shopping spree at Bloomingdale’s, another won $25,000 in Whirlpool appliances, and two each received $5,000 gift certificates to Lowe’s Home Improvement stores.
