Iron Horse mechanic’s hobby helps keep life in ‘focus’
Spc. Jacob Gilmon, a wheeled-vehicle mechanic and welder with HHC, DSTB, 4th Inf. Div. and MND-B, welds a sniper cage together which protects his fellow Soldiers from sniper fire when they are patrolling the streets of Baghdad. This photo was taken by Spc. The actors of "Mud House" perform to a crowd of 1,200 people Friday in al Kut. Mud House is a comedic play about the interactions of an Iraqi family performed for U.S. Soldiers in the area.

Flood Relief
A CH-47F Chinook helicopter from the Company B, 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, approaches a road in Presidio, Texas, to pick up sand bags Sept. 22. The Black Cats are currently supporting flood relief efforts in Presidio by dropping the oversized sandbags on a levee to keep the high waters of the Rio Grande River from flooding the city.

Fort Hood wins Quality of Life Award

Bill Hill, Fort Hood Garrison Commander, Sara Lynch, spouse of the III Corps Commanding General, and Beth Sigatolah, spouse of the III Corps Command Sergeant Major, accept the Quality of Life Award for Communications Excellence on behalf of U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Hood. Secretary of the Army Pete Geren presented the awards Oct. 7 at the 2008 Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
