Shop & Stroll is almost here!!! This year we have added a Park and Ride service that is free for shop and strollers. Park at Central United Methodist Church just north of Central on University and catch a ride over to Nob Hill for a night of holiday festivities. Drop off locations are on Central at Richmond, Carlisle, and Washington. Full street closure on Central from Washington to Girard. Live entertainment throughout the neighborhoood, sales and discounts, great food and a festive atmopsphere make Nob Hill the place to be on the 4th of December.
Today’s Nob Hill is a sophisticated, vibrant mix of art galleries, antique shops, clothing boutiques, jewelry stores, music venues and theaters. Park your car and walk to explore the eclectic goods available. If your passion is handmade paper, exotic items from foreign lands, collectibles from earlier times, fine clothing and shoes, jewelry and beads, furnishings or toys, you can find it here. When you need a break, refresh yourself at one of the upscale restaurants and cafés in the area. Nob Hill is a neighborhood frequented by locals, so you will also find grocery stores, beauty salons, photo shops, pet supply stores and more. Visit www.rt66central.com.
The 11th Annual Old Town Holiday Stroll, one of the largest and best-known events of the holiday season, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, from noon to 9:00 p.m.
Festivities include music and entertainment throughout Old Town, a pet adoption event at The Dawg House (304 San Felipe Street NW) from noon to 4:00 p.m., the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Plaza Don Luis just after 6:00 p.m., a Santa Claus parade around Old Town Plaza with Santa Claus in residence in the evening, and luminarias all evening.
Parking and transportation: Because the Holiday Stroll is a popular and well-attended event, parking in the area is extremely limited and traffic congestion can be heavy. We request that visitors carpool or take the bus as much as possible. The City is also providing free parking and handicap accessible parking at the Plaza Vieja lot on Central and San Felipe, and limited free parking is available around the Old Town area.
