Update: U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida will not seek a second term
U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida, who has struggled to boost his approval ratings because of close ties to President George W. Bush, announced Tuesday he will not seek a second term in 2010.
Update: Two confidential informants identified
Jacksonville attorney William Sheppard, arguing a motion in said in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, identified the two confidential informants who recorded conversations with his client, former St. Johns County Commissioner Tom Manuel, charged with two counts of bribery in June.
He said one informant is a St. Augustine land attorney and the other a representative of Falcon Development Group, developer of Twin Creeks and an office park in Palencia.

Update: County portfolio stable
The St. Johns County economic portfolio remains stable despite the current economy, advisors told the county commission at Tuesday's meeting. As they say: "In a storm if you're not thinking, that's a good thing," said chair Cyndi Stephenson.
